Solid steel roofing or shade net?

IBR steel carports provide a solid roof over parking bays. We offer galvanised IBR and colour-coated roof options, with the structure, roof slope and drainage planned for the site. A solid roof shelters from sun and rain; open sides remain exposed to wind-driven weather.

Shade net carports, also called shadeports, use tensioned netting on a steel structure to shade vehicles while allowing airflow. Standard shade net is not a waterproof roof. Choose between the options according to the protection you need, the available space and your budget.

Single, double and custom carport sizes

Our standard IBR carport options include a 2.5 m × 5 m single and a 5 m × 5 m double. Standard shadeports include 3 m × 5.5 m single, 5 m × 5.5 m double, 7.5 m × 5.5 m triple and 10 m × 5.5 m four-bay layouts. Custom dimensions and larger multi-bay structures can be quoted.

Dimensions are a starting point: we check vehicle height, door opening space, driveway access and the position of gates, walls and existing buildings before settling on a layout.

 

A layout that works on your property

Freestanding, cantilever and wall-supported designs can suit different sites. The appropriate arrangement depends on the roof type, span, ground conditions and any suitable existing support. We plan post positions to keep parking and turning practical, and discuss roof runoff and access during the site assessment. Applicable municipal and estate requirements should be checked before installation.

 

What affects the cost of a carport?

A quotation depends on the covered area, roof material and finish, steelwork and support arrangement, height, ground and fixing conditions, drainage needs, site access and any removal or refurbishment of an existing structure. A standard parking bay and a custom multi-bay installation need different specifications, so we quote for the actual site rather than advertise a one-size-fits-all price.

 

Installation, repairs and ongoing maintenance

We serve Randburg and Sandton, including areas such as Bromhof, Boskruin, Bryanston and Rivonia. We also repair existing structures, replace damaged components, refurbish and repaint steelwork, and replace shade netting. Shade net washing and re-stitching are carried out off-site, followed by refitting.
